Extensive technological innovations have been put into place to ensure that the services offered by the CICs reach the masses.
        By and large, CICs are located in the Block Development Office complexes of the locality concerned. Some CICs are set up in schools or colleges due to space constraint or the need to be centrally located.

           The CIC Operators conduct computer training programmes for the local population. Desk Top Publishing and data entry for government offices in their respective regions is another routine activity for many CICs. These community information hubs are used for sending or receiving mails from government offices.
      Visitors to CIC browse for information on health, education, examination results, bank recruitment information, scholarship details, career opportunities and much more. Newspaper reading is another big draw.
Rail and airline booking also attract sizeable visitors. Residents of North-Eastern region utilize CICs for booking hospital facilities and online medical consultation.
       Enthusiastic CIC Operators make wholehearted efforts for creating IT awareness among the target group, which in turn promises them a bright future. They visit schools and surrounding villages mobilizing local population to visit CICs for a free demonstration of technology and its positive fall-outs.
As a part of IT awareness programmes, a slew of activities such as quiz competitions, seminars or workshops are held regularly to attract people from all walks of life. It is not an unusual sight to watch visitors from foreign lands touring the North-Eastern region invariably reaching out from CICs to access web-based information.
       People visit CICs to communicate with the world at large. Each CIC is a window for the community to explore, apply online for a job, reach out to friends and relatives and give online examinations.
